Poultry processor Agricola International Bacău, the second-largest player ont the local market, posted business worth RON 132.4 million (€31.4 mln) in the second quarter of 2009, some 20.5 percent higher year-on-year.
At a group level – cumulated with operations of Avicola Lumina Constanţa, Salbac Dry Salami, Europrod, and Conagra agricultural and food companies – turnover amounted to €41.8 million, some 30 percent higher compared to Q1 of 2008.
“The growth is the direct result of both a larger quantity of poultry sold and the change of production structure focusing on the refrigerated product segment. One of Agricola Bacau’s goals is to reach a 70 percent ratio of refrigerated meat in total poultry sales by the end of the year,” according to the group’s President, Grigore Horoi.
